Another late wake up – 11:30 am. Freshened up, put on our makeup and Sunday best and hit the road to pick up Eric Rubenstein at the University of Miami. Though we got caught in some traffic we made pretty good time. We arrived around 1, parked, and Rubes met up with us. He gave us a tour of his dorm, the dining hall (Alex’s request), the book store (my request – got a Miami track shirt), and the area where some of the classrooms are. We left campus around 2 to get lunch at Casola’s. The pizza and wings there were huge! I got a slice of pepperoni and onion which was basically 2 slices, and we (over) ordered 24 jumbo wings. WAY too much, but it was really good.

After eating enough for 10 people we headed back to Miami to get Elise at her hostel. She didn’t answer any of the Facebook messages we sent, so Eric and I went inside to check where she was. The guy behind the counter checked her room, and she wasn’t there. Rubes and I left a heartfelt note at the desk for Elise should she check there, but she came to our car about 2 minutes after we returned. On the way back to Alex’s we FaceTimed with Dave Lowery and Sam Forth who were having couple’s night in historic Newcastle, England. So great to speak to those guys.

At Alex’s we watched Non Stop, which was clutch because none of us had seen it before except for the 20 minutes or so Alex and I watched the yesterday. Once again, Liam Neeson is a bo$$. After the movie we gathered everything we needed to tailgate at the Miami Dolphins pre-season game and left around 5:45. Naturally there was some traffic heading to the game, so we got there around 6:30. Busted out some chairs and some refreshments (no food because we were still stuffed), had a lovely chat, and packed it up to head in to the game around 7.

Our seats were great! Section 148 around the 25 yard line behind the Dolphins’ bench. It was still humid at that point, so Alex and I sat there sweating next to each other. Dolphins had some bright spots but they made a little of stupid mistakes to ultimately lose to Tampa Bay. We managed to jump a row behind us and get in on some Papa John’s pizza box passing competition against another row. I sat next to a guy named Anthony who was really cool and really into the competition, especially since we found out we’d each win a free pizza! Anthony, the Dolphins rep running the game, really screwed us over at game time because he gave us the pizza boxes late, thus giving the other row the head start. Damn you Anthony! But we got to be on the Dolphins TV so that was cool. And BIG surprise – Deana Weinberger wasn’t sitting too far from us. Her parents were also at the game, so they all came over and hung out with us for a bit. We left the game in the 4th quarter to avoid traffic and because the Dolphins weren’t doing too well, but of course we got stuck in traffic on the way to drop Rubes off at school.

After dropping off Eric at UM we dropped Elise off at her hostel near South Beach. Alex drove down Ocean Drive again to give me another view of all the clubs, this time around 11 pm on a Thursday (more poppin’ than the first night time drive). We drove by the club they used in the movie The Birdcage, so that was cool. We got back to Alex’s around 11:30 pm, had a late dinner of leftovers, chilled, packed, and went to bed. Kansas City – here we come!
