DAY 42 – TUESDAY 10/6/15 – LIVINGSTON, MT
October 6, 2015
Road Trip 2015
-
- Slept in until 10!
- Homemade breakfast – granola, bacon, croissants, coffee
- Read / relaxed in living room – felt so good to read in silence!
- Drove to downtown Livingston and explored the few blocks of stores and restaurants.
- The Sport for lunch – I had an elk burger, Alex had a bison burger. Both phenomenal.
- Main Street Cuts – a small one-man barber shop. Very old school. Jack gave us haircuts for normal price of $10. We told him about our travels, where we’re from, our family (we’re brothers, of course), what we do, etc. Very kind old man with lots of personality.
- Back to the ranch – showered and felt so good! Betsy, my uncle’s girlfriend, arrived with her dog.
- I went with my uncle on his John Deere gator thing (like the Kawasaki at Wekeela, almost like an ATV but with space in the back to store tools etc) across his ranch to meet a guy who was interested in leasing some land to raise his own cattle. Saw A TON of wild muledeer (good karma).
- I drove a tractor! I lifted a bail of hay and drove it from one end of the farm to the other. It all collapsed when I placed it down, but apparently it wasn’t my fault (probably was).
- Alex and I were allowed to drive the gator all over the farm. SO. MUCH. FUN.
- Back inside to help prep for dinner. Alex and I peeled green beans and ate all the peanuts and cheese and crackers. Such good helpers.
- My cousin Sam came over at 6:30. I hadn’t seen him in so long – he’s such a big guy and a real person now! We hung out in the kitchen until dinner was ready.
- Dinner was another homecooked meal! We’re so spoiled when we stay with family. Ham, green beans with almonds, mashed potatoes with carrots. Incredible. Luckily my grandmother taught both of her children to cook. Homemade zucchini bread with ice cream for dessert.
- Sam left around 10. Alex and I hung out for a bit before going to bed early (midnight, relatively early) to prepare for our day trip to Yellowstone!
