Road Trip 2015

7:45 am à Woke up, packed up the tent like absolute champions
8:15 am àLeft the camp grounds
9 am – 12 pm à Arches National Park – no amount of writing can explain how unique and incredible and beautiful these national parks are. We did a lot of hiking (relative for us) to see a lot of major points in the park. We saw Balanced Rock, The Windows, Delicate Arch (which is on Utah license plates), and Wolfe Ranch, among many others. The natural features that formed over time were so cool. Hopefully the pictures (Alex, cough cough) paint a better picture.
12:30 pm à Wendy’s for lunch – yum!
1:00 pm à Drove to Canyonlands (super close to Moab)
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm à Canyonlands National Park – we didn’t spend a ton of time at this park. However, as always, the scenery was incredible. It was different from Arches, but still very impressive.
3:00 pm – 7:00 pm à Drove to Bryce Canyon, Utah. The speed limit on the highway was 80 mph, which was the highest we’ve seen, most likely because there was nothing going on in that area of the US. 3 highlights from the drive…
1) We stopped for gas in Salina, Utah. Our gas pump went really slowly, and the woman filling up next to us heard our sarcastic conversation and thought we were funny. Which we totally were.
2) Super cool farm sprinkler systems in Utah! They were really long and automated.
3) We saw 2 guys getting arrested outside their car in Circleville, Utah. It was the first time I had ever seen anyone get arrested.
7:00 pm à Drove through Red Canyons outside of Panguitch, Utah to get to Bryce Canyon
7:30 pm à “Welcome to Bryce Canyon City – Est. 2007.” We couldn’t find a place to stay or a place to eat. After driving around and looking in places and making calls, we wound up eating Subway. Subway had THE BEST music playing! It was rap and hip hop from the early-mid 2000’s (Chingy, Ludacris, 50 Cent, etc). Bumpin!
8:45 pm à Ruby’s Inn Campground. $30 for a tent site was a bit steep but it was the best we could find.
10:00 pm à Packed it in for another early night. Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks tomorrow!!
