DAY 54 – SUNDAY 10/18/15 – NASHVILLE, TN

October 19, 2015 Road Trip 2015  No comments

We were awoken by Seth leaving for work around 10 am. Slept a little longer, waking up around 10:30 am. Jim and Pam were being a bit noisy playing Flonkerton, but we moved past it. We got up and watched The Office, while each of us got showered and ready. I think I saw Michael and Pam delivering paper for their own paper company outside Emily’s house. Probably not.

We left around 12:45. Oscar and Toby were calling a meeting for the Finer Things Club, but we couldn’t make it. We dropped Alex off to wait in line for Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, where the line was literally out the door. We parked for free around the corner, which was clutch. We waited 40 minutes to order and another 20 to get out food. Karen Filipelli was the woman who took our order. Really sweet. Leslie got no heat, Alex got mild, and I got medium. DELICIOUS fried chicken. Better than what we have back in Scranton.

We walked next door to Gigi’s cupcakes. I messed around with Taryn, the girl working behind the counter, in order to get free cupcakes. Didn’t work out, but she was a good sport. I got a cupcake to split with Kevin and Angela, but they never showed up so I enjoyed a salted caramel cupcake by my lonesome. SO. GOOD.

Afterward we drove to the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center. This 600,000 square foot mammoth is the largest non-gambling resort in North America. It has 5 or so different sections, with waterfalls, incredible vegetation, and a river inside. The Presidential Suite goes for $3,500 a night. Maybe David Wallace could hook it up for us since he’s so rich from “Suck it!” We took the guided boat ride which was so cool. Such a beautiful place.

We got back to Emily’s around 6:30. (First time writing this in the future tense). We’re going to watch The Office for a bit until Seth gets back. The plan is to go out to dinner somewhere and then build a fire at a neighbor’s house and hang out in the neighborhood. This is our last day of the most epic adventure of my life. I can’t believe this road trip is basically over! We’ll probably go to bed at a normal time because of the 13 or so hour drive back to New Rochelle, plus losing an hour due to the time zone change. I’m going to really enjoy tonight. I’ve planned on doing this road trip for almost a full year, and now it’s the last night. Thank goodness I have over a thousand pics and videos and this blog to remember all that we did. I’ll put up one last post probably in 2 days to document the very last day. It’s been a wonderful ride.
