DAY 45 – FRIDAY 10/9/15 – LIVINGSTON, MT TO SIOUX FALLS, SD
October 9, 2015
Road Trip 2015
-
~Up at 6:45 am.
~Left at 7:30 am.
~Nobody on the road – 80 mph speed limit.
~Drove through Montana – wide open land, mountains.
~Got off to get gas somewhere – failed because the gas station was closed.
~Eventually got gas in Grass Lodge, Montana – didn’t expect convenience store to be open because it looked caged and locked.
~Crossed into Wyoming – more of the same scenery.
~Got to South Dakota!
~About an hour away from Mount Rushmore we saw a ton of big horned sheep with some sort of tags or trackers around some of their necks – more good karma nonetheless!
~Mount Rushmore from 2:45 – 4:15 pm…WOW! How did they do that?! Not super crowded which was great. We heard a Native American park ranger tell us the story of the Lakota people and the architect and their relationship with the park’s development and history. Apparently it was also his birthday that day.
~Picnic lunch in the parking lot – the chips blew away! Oh no! I recovered them though. No big deal.
~Saw 10,000 signs for Wall Drug, so we had to stop to check it out in Wall, SD. ~Unfortunately most of it was closed, but it was still an impressive massive pharmacy / fun site / restaurant.
~Back on the road – another time zone change at 7:01 pm to 8:01 pm
~Stopped for gas somewhere in South Dakota – I won the lottery again! $4 on 4 $1 scratch offs. Good looks, big horned sheep!
~Arrived in Sioux Falls, SD around 10:30 pm. Drove up and down the street to look for food. Only thing open was Burger King. Brought it back to our Days Inn for a late dinner and watch South Park marathon.
~Asleep around 12:30 am.
~YAY LOTS OF DRIVING!
