DAY 33 – SUNDAY 9/27/15 – LOS ANGELES, CA
September 27, 2015
Road Trip 2015
-
Today was a relaxing day. We got up at 9:30 or so. After getting ready Alex left around 10 to head to his aunt Beth and uncle Bill for the day. This was our first full day apart on the road trip. How would we manage?!? After Alex left Timmy drove me to Vida Café in Culver City and dropped me off so I could get brunch with Ricardo Horna, the Spanish teaching guru from my TFA Baltimore days. We met up around 11, and it was so great to see him! We hung out for a bit at a St. Patrick Day party in Baltimore when he visited and I was still there. I had an incredible berry smoothie and variation of a breakfast burrito. Great call, Ricardo. By the way Ricardo is going to be famous one day after he graduates from USC. Just putting that out there. Ricardo had to leave around 12:30, so I did some work at the Starbucks down the street until Jena and Matt came and got me around 1:30. They then proceeded to the In-n-Out drive through, which was such a tease because it smelled so good. We brought food back to their apartment and hung out for a while, planning out schemes to make us wealthy beyond our wildest dreams. I made plans to go to my Uncle Steve’s place between 5:30-6, so we left around 4:30 to go to Sweet Lady Jane’s, which is a phenomenal bakery where Ellen DeGeneres got her wedding cake. We split triple berry (her wedding cake) and German chocolate cake. So good. Also, according to Snapchat, Alex went to Malibu and the Santa Monica Pier and a few other places during our day off. I got to my uncle’s around 5:45. I said a “tearful” goodbye to Matt and Jena (Jena actually cried, for the record) and walked up the hill to Steve’s newly remodeled house (since I had been there a LONG time ago). Michelle, my aunt, was traveling back from Texas so Steve and I hung out for a while until she got back around 8. We watched the Broncos-Lions game and talked music and travel (thanks for all the recommendations, if you’re reading this). Shortly after Michelle came back and freshened up we went to Ramen Jinya for dinner. Their chicken ramen was so good! I put too much Srirachi in it, but it was still delicious. We got back around 9:30. Michelle was exhausted from travels so we went to bed around 10. I stayed up a bit and typed up some entries and watched the hilarious Will Ferrell HBO bit about when he played 10 positions for 10 teams in 1 day. I then went to bed in such a comfortable bed, knowing it would be my last really good night’s sleep for a while since that was our last day in LA.

I cried my eyes out the day you left. For the record. 🙂
